The monthly meeting was called to order at 8 pm. There is discussion about moving the meeting times to 7:30. It is likely that starting in January the meetings will start at 7:30 pm. Those that will be affected should take note. The winner of the Incentive raffle was Wally Engel. The list of winners for the annual raffle was provided to all members and a copy is available by clicking here ! Minutes available here!
There was also a lengthy discussion about changing the shooting range. A proposal was provided to all members.
Members are encouraged to attend to the December meeting to discuss this plan and vote on it.

6/6/11
The June meeting was called to order by Vice President Jim Bertram at 8 PM. There were 36 members present. There was discussion about the Lobster Bake which will be held on August 21st. Tickets are available and member should see Ed Benziger for tickets or info. The Dan Lowery Memorial Fishing Derby was a success. There were 177 kids who participated with 161 Trout caught. The range committee is looking to have a range cleanup / work day. Stop down to the club one day and speak to the members if you’re interested. There is a By-Laws committee meeting on Monday June 20th to go over proposed changes and revisions. the scholarships were disbursed. The winners were Rebecca Willams and Samantha Odell. Congratulations to both of them. Members voted into the club are Jason Welch, John Brusie and Steve Pachesak. The 50/50 was won by Joel Dyslan, he won a .22 Mag rifle!

4/4/11
The meeting was called to order by President Kosnick at 8pm. He thanked all of the guys that worked on the club over the past month. It really looks good. For anyone that has not seen the improvements, you are encouraged to stop down and check them out. There was discussion and a vote to purchase new tables for use at the club. If members wish to rent out/ use tables, you should use the old wooden ones as the new ones will be for club use only. Remember that the annual Fishing Derby will be held May 7th. Members are asked to arrive early that morning to help in setting up and cooking breakfast. There was a motion and discussion about officially naming the annual fishing derby after the recently departed life member, Daniel Lowery. It was unanimously voted and will now be held each year as the Annual Daniel Lowery Memorial Fishing Derby. There will be a clean up day April 23rd at 8 am to get ready for the derby. On Sat April 16th the club will be at Shooters for the outdoor show.
We will need help cooking breakfast and lunch. Annual Gun Fall Raffle tickets are available as well.
Jim Bertram spoke about the Federation of Sportsmen meeting.
He advised the DEC has approved and will open a Bear season this year somewhere in Columbia County.
The Details are still unknown. This months 50/50 drawing was a gun.

****Scholarship Announcement****
The Ghent Sportsman's Association, Inc. has authorized two Five Hundred Dollar Scholarships. The Scholarships will be awarded in June 2011 to two college age students. Any member who has a child entering or currently enrolled in college is eligible. Please fill in the required information on the posted form (located on bulletin board at club) to be consider for one of these Scholarships.
In the event that numerous applicants are registered the Scholarships will be awarded through a drawing.

News Letter from the desk of President George Kerner - 12/6/10
Final farewell from President Kerner as he presides over his final meeting
The meeting was called to order Monday evening at 8 PM. The elections were held and all positions were filled by the current officers and board of directors with the exception of the President. The new president will be Paul Kosnick effective Jan 1, 2011. Congratulations to him and best wishes to the all of the new officers. A new door lock system was discussed but no prices were available as of the meeting. It is estimated that a new card and scanner system will be at least $500.00 and probably more. The annual hunt for 2 kids to attend Camp Colby next summer is on. They have to be between the ages of 12 and 14 and we have to have the applications in by late Jan. If you have anyone in mind please let a club officer know. They need not be relatives of any members, although they will be given priority.
The date for the annual rabbit hunt is set for Feb 12, 2011.
The annual meeting will be held at the club on Jan 3.
There will be roast beef sandwiches served at 6:30 and a meeting at 8.
Remember: THE ANNUAL DUES ARE DUE at that time so bring your money.
AND, FINALLY: I would like you all to know that I only stepped down from the position of President because I just can't devote the time to the club that it deserves. My time as president has been rewarding and I appreciate the help that several of you have given me. As in any organization a change in management can be good for new ideas and improvements. As many of you know the club is in pretty good shape financially and the future looks promising. Thanks for everything! ~George

News Letter from the desk of President George Kerner - 11/1/10
The November monthly meeting was called to order by President George Kerner on this evening. There were several items covered and George thanked all of the members that helped with the work party this past weekend. "The club is looking very good right now". There were several new members voted in this month with at least 2 new applications submitted for next month. The club purchased and had approximately 350 trout stocked into the pond this past month. Members are reminded to return their tickets by this Saturday for the annual drawing. Contact Jim Bertram or Barry Nieto with any questions.

The October meeting was held this date. There was a good showing for the meeting and little business was discussed. All members comented on the sucess of the new annual steak dinner that was held on October 2. There was reported to have been about 50 memebrs present. Peter Andrews won the members rifle drawing. The next meeting is scheduled for November 1, 2010. There is an envelope for sign up for the "Big Buck contest" that is held between memers every year on the table.

The monthly meeting was called to order at about 8 PM by President Kerner on Tuesday 9/7 this month due to the Labor Day Holiday. Several items were discussed. Ed Benziger reported that the lobster bake was very successful with over $11,000 profit. The fair ticket booth sold over 750 tickets. The membership decided that the club would write two $500.00 scholarships for this upcoming year with details to follow at next meeting. It was decided that the Fall fish stocking program would be delayed until sometime in Oct due to warm water and dry conditions. The membership voted to donate $250 to the VFW for the Donahue fund. Our club voted to buy $100.00 of raffle tickets from the Col Co. Federation of Sportsman. Jack Holt has offered to bring his brush hog to the club and mow around the shooting range and the pond area. Three new membership applications were submitted for consideration.

The August monthly meeting was called to order at 8 pm with about 20 members present. It was a very good showing for August. President Kerner advised the club members about several items that had occurred over the past 2 months. The driveway was blacktopped and looks great. He thanked all ofthe guys that took part in fixing the steps off the front of the club. They look great! Ed Benziger spoke about the Lobster Bake and requested that any members available to help either contact him or try to be at one of the work parties schedled for August 12 at 6 pm or August 14 at 8am.
Remember to sell your Gun Raffle tickets. If you have some left over please return them!

The July monthly meeting was caled to order with only 12 members present. No official business was conducted. Members are encouraged to attend the August meeting as important business items need to be attended to. Additionally, details of the annual gun raffle and the lobster bake were discussed and tabled to the August meeting. On Monday night President Kerner called the monthly meeting to order at 8pm. There were numerous old business topics discussed. The driveway issue is being worked on and the officers are getting estimates for the black top. By the next meeting we should have the culvert repaired or replaced.
The annual Fishing Derby was held on Saturday. There were 99 kids registered and it was a beautiful day. All of the kids that attended hd a wonderful time.

There 2 new members voted in at last nights meeting and there were 4 new member applications submitted for review.

On Monday night President George Kerner called the April meeting to order at about 8 pm. This meeting was reported to have been the most attended regular business meeting in recent history. Some more tenure members report they have never seen this many members at a meeting. There were 57 members in attendance. George started the meeting off with a treasurer’s report and a report from a directors meeting held on 4/1. Items such as paving the driveway and replacing the culvert were discussed. It was voted on and agreed to do both of those projects.
The majority of the members in attendance voted to change the annual dinner from being held outside of the club to having it back at the club. There was a committee put in place to head the dinner. The dinner will now be at the club in October.
Note: The annual meeting will still be held in January and will be at the club as a regular business meeting
Dan Lowery reported on the fishing derby that will be held on May 1st. Members are encouraged to attend as there will be a need for volunteers to help. Contact Dan or George with any questions.
There were two applications brought submitted and investigating committees were appointed. They will be reported on and brought up for vote in the May meeting.

The annual Club dinner was held on January 4th at the Ghent VFW. There were about 65 members present. A good time was had by all. Members were given an update by newly re-elected President Kerner. He spoke about all of the accomplishments at the club this year and things that are projected in 2010. George gave everyone an update on longtime member Felix Gardina and his progress at Sunnyview rehabillitation center. Everyone is welcome to stop and see him during his recovery. George passed along his condolencese to the Gardner family after the passing of Fran. Fran had done alot around the club over the past several years. Members in attendance enjoyed another wonderful meal put on by the VFW. Members enjoyed shrimp, clams and prime rib along with other favorites. Jeff Cox won a nice Remington .270 rifle and Chuck Witherell won $265 in the 50/50 drawing. Members are reminded that dues are due. Stay tuned to this website for updates and news.

The December meeting was called to order by President George Kerner. There was a fair showing of members at the meeting with numerous items being discussed. The situation with the furnace fumes seems to be on its way to being corrected. The club held its election of officers for the 2010 year. A list of officers can found on theContactspage. The incentive raffle was held for the Annual Gun raffle with the winner being Jack Holt. He won a very nice Thompson Center black powder gun. All members were reminded that dues are due at the Annual Dinner and that cocktail hour starts at 6:00 pm.
The board and the officers thank everyone for a very good year at the club.

The monthly meeting was called to order this month by Vice President Wally Engel at 8pm.
Several items were discussed including the annual gun drawing, annual dinner and the gun range.
Jim Bertrum discussed several items of interest being discussed throughout DEC.
He stated that there are several proposal being discussed for the 2010 hunting seasons and that members should continuously check the website for updates.
VP Engel advised the members to keep the thoughts and prayers of the
families of Sunny McCagg and Felix Gardina in mind. A moment of silence was held for long time member Sunny McCagg who passed away on Saturday. Felix is very ill and currently hospitalized.

The October meeting was held last night with a good number of members present.
We voted in several new members and welcome all of them.
Ed Benziger reported that the lobster bake was
very successul again this year with more profits being approximately the same as last year.

9/13/09
The September meeting was held on Tuesday 9/8/09 at 8pm. There only 12 members present.
President Kerner advised the members that the fair was very successful and that the club sold 803 tickets.
All members are reminded to return their unsold tickets to one of the officers if they cant sell them,
so that someone else can sell the tickets if possible.
It was decided that the club would stock the pond with another 500 Rainbow trout.
There is still no final figures on the profits from the Lobster Bake.

The lobster bake was very successful with around 375 people attending.
Ed Benziger did his usual good job of keeping things running smoothly. We also had a good turnout of members to help,
Ed said there were 53 of us all together.
